Illustrations
Katrina's work is recognised by its high detail, noticing and recording all she can see. Each illustration is characterized by using either fine brushwork, pencil or pen. She enjoys building up layers, to create depth and form, these are particularly noticed with hair on her animals. She enjoys creating a certain realism mixing fine art and illustration.
Working freehand, she draws and paints fascinations from the beauty of the outdoors. Her passion for adventure has also led her to create pictures of VW camper vans, while her love for British wildlife allows her to make striking portrayals of animals and insects.
With an incredible ability to observe the world closely, Katrina’s artwork also initiates the viewer to look deeper, drawing you into her work. She enjoys creating images that help others appreciate the natural beauty the world has to offer.
These pieces particularly showcase her dedication to her self taught artistic skills using many mediums.
Commissioned Design
I was kindly invited by a mechanical engineer company to design a piece inspired by technology. By combining lines and shapes on top of interesting surface textures, I transformed plain paper into a mysterious other worldly place or universe, where past and future technology is lost in space.
Using both precise and freehand mark making, I designed a monochrome body of work where various shapes coexist harmoniously, yet also with a certain oddity to their collaboration.
The chosen piece was used to update a web page.
Thank you so much for the commission. I found it truly enjoyable!
