My artistic journey
Here you can discover the passion and inspiration behind my mark making, understand the messages I hope to convey, and learn more about my creative process.

Background
My journey to becoming a professional Artist began during a visit to Barcelona. The stunning architecture and vibrant art galleries made a profound impression on me, igniting a true passion for art, so much so, that I couldn't imagine pursuing anything else.
As I explored Antoni Gaudí's masterpieces and slowly wandered through the world of Picasso, I began to immerse myself into the art world, where dreams and reality coexist. I began to feel connected to Art as its own language.
Works by Joan Miró and Howard Hodgkin resonated with me to a deep level, and before long, I had fully lost myself in the paintings. I was absorbed, looking closely at details whilst also being in awe by the dynamic energy of brushstrokes. By placing myself in the shoes of the artists, I began to wonder what they might have been thinking and feeling whilst making the work and what emotion their work had left on me.
If Art had the power to stir up these emotions, I knew I wanted to try that for myself. What was inside of me waiting to come out? I knew I withheld a lot of thoughts and feelings, and sometimes with having nowhere for them to go could feel like a lot. Maybe letting something out on paper could be my way to tell the world my story. I didn't know for sure, but I was eager to find out.
Upon returning to England, I immersed myself in the creative process, experimenting with various materials and techniques. I welcomed mistakes and embraced an unconventional approach.
I felt completely free, this was my calling and I immediately fell in love with Art and all it had to offer.
Creating art instills a sense of confidence in me; by remaining present and entering a flow state, I can eliminate distractions and dedicate myself fully to my work.
This experience is truly unparalleled.
I still enjoy boldly step out of my comfort zone, and continually pushing the boundaries of my artistic expression.

Emotions and messages in my paintings
When people view my recent abstract work, I hope they experience both a sense of peace and joy. Each picture is a direct reflection of my energy and emotions during its creation. It is created from an immediate response from the subconcscious and from there takes on its own shape and direction. If they are over thought in any way then the picture lacks the certain energy and freedom to take on a life of it's own. My hope is that my work takes the viewer on their own personal journey of discovery, providing a space for their minds to wander and roam free.

Behind the canvas: My creative process
My artistic journey derives from a profound, intrinsic need to create. I often reflect on the fact that we are all products of nature, making this powerful urge to create feel entirely normal and natural. It serves as an inner compass, guiding me towards purpose and essence.
Recently I’ve been exploring Switzerland and France and my beautiful homeland of North Yorkshire. Inspiration strikes me daily, and usually all I need is a simple starting point to ignite my creativity. To be out in nature, taking time to relax and recharge allows me to absorb my surroundings, firing new ideas.
I surround myself with art materials and let my creativity flow. I make a series of work before moving on to something that might be completely different, embracing this organic way of working rather than confining myself to one single style suits me, keeping it fresh, interesting and exciting. I thrive on stimulation, and my art helps me grow personally. It has got me through some of lifes most challenging times and for that, I am most thankful.
I make sketch books and drawings on paper. I work both small and large scale, 5x5"up to room sized murals. I draw, paint, sculpt and play with found objects. I photograph, print and collage.
Now ending with a note for you.
You are brave, you are powerful and you are stronger than you think.
Pass on the love and it will come back to you.
